Fino Necklace was the final design for my Patternworks Knit Jewelry Kit Club! It has been released as an individual pattern!

Fino is constructed with one long I-cord that is banded together by individually made “beads”… These “bead wraps” are made by placing beads with a crochet hook or Super Floss onto elongated stitches. There are endless possibilities for this technique . You can make one, two, five or twenty beads to wrap your I-cord with… that is totally up to you!

Wait until you see how fun Fino is to make… especially if you invest in an I-cord maker.

Crucero Shawl was designed for my Nautical Knitting Cruise students. The design was revealed on board, and then classes were held to teach the techniques used!

Crucero starts from the center out in the round and the center back of the shawl is created. Then the stitches are divided… the left and right “wings” are worked separately flat, with beads integrated into the pattern at the end of each wing. Then a crochet beaded border is worked along the bottom edge tying it all together.

There is lots to learn in this shawl… it was my first time doing a crochet beaded border, so I have a feeling that will be something new for many...

Crucero Banda is a rectungular version of the Crucero Shawl. It starts at the center with a vertical strip. Stitches are then picked up and each side of this strip out worked outwards with beads integrated into the pattern at the end of each side. Then a crochet beaded border is worked along the bottom edge tying it all together. The stitches are a combination of a simple fir cone lace stitch and an insanely fun migrating drop stitch pattern.

There is lots to learn in this shawl… it was my first time doing a crochet beaded border, so I have a feeling that will be something new for many of you as well! The stitches are a combination of a simple fir cone lace stitch and an insanely fun...

Pioneer Cuff is a simple lace cuff knit in either lace, light fingering or fingering weight yarn that incorporates both pre-strung beads that are slipped in between stitches and larger beads that are placed on stitches with super floss or a crochet hook. This is a GREAT learning cuff, for teaching multiple beading techniques and knitting simple lace! Pattern is both charted and written out and includes video links for working with the beads!

Pioneer Cuff is also used as a learning pattern in my Craftsy class: Knitting with Beads!

Listado Cowl is sized two ways, a little neck warmer, and an elegant whole head covering; either way this is a fast and simple ribbed lace cowl worked entirely in the round! Once you get the hang of the 4-round stitch repeat it is smooth sailing. The small cowl takes around 130 yards, and the large one around 260 yards. This cowl is a serious stash buster for your finger weight leftovers!

Cheerio is a short row shaped necklace that incorporates three kinds of beads, Czech Glass Donuts (aka Cheerios), size 8 seed beads, and matte triangular seed beads. I found the cheerios when I was in Canada last spring and played with them all summer long to find the perfect way to incorporate them into a necklace…. the teens that work with me decided that this design is decidedly tribal, and we love it!

August’s Adorn design, Butin Earring, was designed to complement June’s pattern Butin Collar. The earrings are based on FOUR stitches of knitting, with beads slipped up into a delicate swag.

It takes me about an hour to make a pair and they are addictive to make…. just sayin’. There is even a video link provided in the pattern for attaching the earring finding!!!!

Play around with various yarns, wire, and beads for a completely different look.

Butin is Adorn’s June Pattern!

A striking garter stitch necklace, Butin requires only 20 yards of fingering weight yarn and is SO EASY you can make one in a night! Beads are simply slipped up to form a “swag” of texture at the center of the piece. This is knitted beaded jewelry at it’s easiest!

With only 10 yards of yarn, 3 different colors beads and an hour of your time you can make this cuff!

Beaded Waves Cuff plays with elongating stitches on one row, and then placing beads on them on the next row. In the pattern I have suggested 2 possible layouts for the bead colors, one with 2 colors and one with 3 colors. There is even a blank diagram for you to design your own bead pattern once you get the hang of the pattern!

The pattern is sized and contains video tutorials to help with the tricksy bits!

Inspired by the Artichoke French Sweater, Artichoke French Mittens are the perfect snug hand warmer.

Knit in a dense Aran weight yarn (I love Jill Draper’s Empire) at a tight gauge wind will be hard pressed to get through the stitches and chill your fingers. The snug fit makes it easy to drive, open the mailbox, and walk the dog.

If you want them loose enough to wear liners under for extra warmth then just knit a size up!

I talk a bit about my design process for these mittens on my blog, and I made you a video tutorial for the stitch!

Ever buy a gradient yarn or a mini-skein pack and not know what to do with it? Did you find a great skein of variegated sock yarn but you’re not quite sure if it will make a good shawl? If you’re anything like me, then you definitely have.

Inspired by a great mini-skein pack that I just couldn’t resist, Pomeroy Shawl is a simple, garter stitch, asymmetrical shawl. The lower edge has a crochet chain bind off, just for something a little fancy. Even though the pattern calls for 500-550 yards of fingering weight yarn, it’s easy to adjust the pattern for any yardage, and you don’t have to use a mini-skein pack. Just knit!

The pattern has been test knit by my fantastic test knitters and...

Simple ribbing is like spending time with a good friend – relaxing, safe, peaceful…but sometimes you need a change of pace to avoid the mundane. Just as an excursion to Malbork Castle provided a delightful interruption to an otherwise ordinary airport run, the textured ribbing in Bricks, inspired by the castle walls, provides an interesting variation to the normal knit 1, purl 1 theme. Relax with this project in front of the TV or use it sooth your soul, then enjoy the charming and gratifying outcome.

A large, lightweight scarf is the penultimate accessory for summer; whether you stay in one place for the whole season or travel to the corners of the earth, summertime is simplified by having one great piece that serves a multitude of functions. This simple design with two options—each in two sizes (petite/large)—is a great example. Knit in a soft silk/linen blend as shown with stripes that are worked right into the fabric, it can be tied and retied in any configuration from head scarf to wrap skirt to beach towel. Gearhead is the perfect go-to sweater for those hot summer nights spent at the beach! We used Eco Butterfly in Cotton to lighten up this cozy boyfriend sweater!

Nothing beats a cozy fall sweater except one that is light as well as warm. In the absence of sleeves, long fingerless gloves make an elegant statement at a formal event. When knit up in a lightweight fabric from non-wool yarn, this version in two sizes (S/L) will carry the day, allowing you to get away with a slip of a dress when temperatures soar. And they’ll continue to add a fun touch when you change into shorts or jeans later on. Knit in a silk/linen blend with stripes worked right into the fabric, they look smashing paired with a wide scarf in the same fabric to complete the outfit. Add beads if desired for a little extra bling.

This airy semicircle in two sizes (petite/tall), is begun on a provisional cast on and worked from center back neck to hem in a series of patterns that progresses from solid to more open and lacy. Trellis, vine, and leaf motifs tell the story of the vineyard as harvest time nears, forming a fabric that invites the autumn light to filter through. Complex to the eye, the lace is actually quite simple and entertaining to work. The final result is a stunning composition that offers a warm and beautiful layer on cool fall days.

This pattern has been re-released as part of the new book, She Made Them Her Own: The Best of Trudy Van Stralen.

At one of her weekly design meetings, Trudy presented me with a rectangular strip of cloth, cut to specific measurements. She said that this was going to be a shrug/vest. I was skeptical until she started pinning it together to show me how it was going to work. Truly ingenious! This light and airy shrug will deceive you with its warmth. It is knit in one straight piece from cuff to cuff. Buttonholes are added on opposite sides, so that you can button up the sleeves and wear it as a shrug, or button down the front and back to wear as a vest. The width can easily be...

This pattern has been re-released as part of the new book, She Made Them Her Own: The Best of Trudy Van Stralen.

One of Trudy’s pet peeves was “filler” stitches at the side seams of garments in order to adjust sizes. When Trudy designed cabled sweaters, it was imperative that the cables be across the whole sweater, which created a challenge when figuring out multiple sizes. This beautifully cabled sweater is knit in the round to the underarms. In order to maintain the flow of the design, the braids from the center front, center back and saddle shoulders are carried on through to the fitted high neck.

Twist Me Up is an ultra long braided reversible cowl knit in soft worsted or aran weight yarn. Wear this unique piece as a single mega long loop, twist it up into a double long loop, or twist it up a third time for a cushy triple neck loop. No twisting needed on the needles, just around the neck. The simple lace detail keeps the knitting engaging and becomes a peak-a-boo when braided. Choose highly contrasting colors for a bold look or monochromatic for a chic, sophisticated look.

Tech edited pattern includes written directions, charts, a braiding/ plaiting (UK) diagram, glossary, and pictures for both the extra-long version and standard long version.

Ready in a snap, the pattern knits up in just a few hours, making this the perfect accessory for summer outfits.

The tech edited pattern is full of customization opportunities – beads, length, and width. Two methods of closing the necklace are included – a jewelry clasp method (with you tube video) and a provisional cast on method. Pattern includes written & charted directions, a glossary, and pictures.

Stay cool and fashionable through the spring and summer with this light weight linen and open back knit top. Olea features a high neckline in front and deep scoop in the back accentuated with an undulating lace wave lace pattern. The top is knit in the round from the bottom-up and begins with a self-hemming cast on. It is worked in the round up to the underarm and then worked flat with a self-edging lace. Three needle bind off completes the seamless design. Minimal finishing work is key to the design.

This pattern uses less than one skein of cloud cotton.

My sister inspired me to design a beginner pattern. She has crocheted for years and was leery at trying her hand at knitting, so I decided to tempt her beyond her doubts. I created a simple pattern that required only knit, purl, and a button opening, in her favorite color, blue. To ensure her success I included written directions as well as a chart. Furthermore, I sent this pattern off to be tech edited to make certain it would be as universally understood as possible.

As to the specifics behind the “Off the Cuff” design, I find cuffs on garments rather interesting as they intentional expose of the wrong side of a work. The seed stitch alters to emulate the structure of a cuff. The...

Rachel is a slightly flared double crochet skirt with lace ruffles on the bottom. You choose how many rows of lace you want at the bottom of your skirt! Instructions are given for 7 different lace patterns, which can be place in any order, use several different laces, switch off between two, or even just make a few rows of the same one, it is all up to you! Due to the fact that you choose how many ruffles to make, the smaller child sizes can be almost entirely covered in ruffles if that is what you want, and the adult sizes can have the ruffles just at the bottom, so the hips and thighs are not made larger by ruffles. Length is also left up to the creator, so this skirt can be short or long. It has a slight flair, so movement is not an issue as it gets longer. There are many process pictures included...

In my hunt for a great ear flap hat, I just couldn’t find what I wanted! I was looking for one that had the ear flaps made within the last several rows. I just love the look of those. Unfortunately, every pattern I found was just not quite what I wanted. The flaps were the wrong size, or they sat at the wrong angle, or they stood straight out from the hat, or just didn’t lay flat, or something else! So I gave it a go. I also worked in a fun stripe pattern, as well! Links to video tutorials are included for several stitches and techniques that are used in this pattern.

This pattern is unisex and includes all sizes from preemie to adult large. As with all my sale patterns, this pattern has been tested for typos and clarity. However, if you do find any errors or have any problems with this pattern,...
