The Prairie School Shawl
by Amy Loberg
The Prairie School Shawl has a simple construction. An elegant series of eyelets and garter ridges line the top and bottom edges of a broad expanse of stockinette stitch shaped with short rows. The bottom edge then has a flourish of ruffles worked side-to-side and edged again with tiny eyelets.
American B. R. A. N. D. by HiKoo is an American-made fingering-weight yarn. It starts off with superwash Rambouillet wool raised from Montana to Texas. The wool is then spun in Pennsylvania and dyed in North Carolina using natural dyes from Botanical Colors. The wool's then blended with soft and durable nylon. The result is a product that's proudly American … lovely and robust.
Because of the artisanal dyeing process, there may be some color transfer. We highly recommend washing your yarn before winding it into a ball to minimize this transfer. The manufacturer also suggests using metal needles and hooks. Also make sure to hand wash your finished shawl!
