The first sock pattern in our Sock of the Month “National Parks Series”!

These striking but approachable top-down socks are inspired by the rocky peaks and flowing snowmelt of the Continental Divide, and are a homage to Rocky Mountain National Park outside Boulder, Colorado.

Size: Small (Medium, Large)

Foot Circumferences: 7 ¼” (8”, 9”) washed and unstretched

Gauge: 32st/4” on US 1 2.50 mm needles in Stockinette stitch

Needles: (2) US 1 2.50 mm Circular Needles or needles to obtain gauge. (For a bit larger sock, adjust needle size to US 2s 3.00 mm)

Materials: Shown in HiKoo’s American B.R.A.N.D. (80% Superwash Wool / 20% Nylon: 440 yards/100g) – Wash before you wind and start!

The second sock pattern in our Sock of the Month “National Parks Series”!

Inspired by the majesty and serenity of Redwoods National Park in Northern California, these richly textured top-down socks are deceptively simple to knit. All that texture is the result of a simple six-stitch eyelet pattern as delicate as the foliage of the seedling Sequoia. Plus all of the patterning is on the leg of the sock while the foot is all smooth stockinette stitch.

Size: Women’s Small (Women’s Medium, Women’s Large)

The third pattern in our Sock of the Month “National Parks Series”!

Inspired by the Hoh Rainforest in Olympic National Park, the Fern and Forest Socks have a simple and lovely fern lace pattern that runs up the top of the foot and continues up the front of the leg bordered on either side by a delicate cable braid. Turn the sock around and you find a beautiful tree made of easy-to-knit bobbles that give the fabric a remarkable nubbly texture.

Size: Small 7” to 8” (Large 8” to 9”) circumference

The fourth pattern in our Sock of the Month “National Parks Series”!

This colorful and playful sock pattern looks like work, but is remarkably easy to knit. Worked from the top down, a few rows of simple colorwork paint a lovely picture inspired by Mount Rainier National Park in the Cascade Range that runs through the state of Washington. This fun sock is simple, light-weight, wool-free, and beautiful!

Inspired by the amazing colors of Yellowstone National Park’s Mammoth Hot Springs, these socks capture the layered limestone and columns of water in blocks of ribs and garter stitch. The socks are topped with a rippled cuff designed to capture the steam as it comes off the hot spring.

The Chain of Craters socks are named after molten mountains in Volcanoes National Park. The Acadia Tidepool Socks are inspired by the beautiful, diverse Acadia National Park with its amazing tidepools along its granite shore. Worked on two circular needles from the toe up, these socks feature circular cable motifs and twisted stitch ribs that create tidepools that flow gracefully (and are mirrored) along the leg of each sock.

Worked from the toe up, the Pinnacles sock is a great all purpose boot style sock. The instep of the foot features a simple rib for comfort, and the leg pattern is inspired by the amazing rock formations found at Pinnacles National Park. The result is a comfy sock for both men and women.

The tenth pattern in our Sock of the Month “National Parks Series”!

Worked from the toe up with two colors and contrasting toes, heels and cuffs, the Muldrow socks have a flowing lace pattern on the instep that runs up the length of the leg. Ribbing and another repeat of the lace pattern complete the back of sock on top of the after-thought heel. A generous ribbed cuff completes the look while keeping the sock in place on your calf. The gentle, cool colors and flow of the lace patterning reflect the feel of giant glaciers moving down the mountain side!

The eleventh pattern in our Sock of the Month “National Parks Series”!

Worked from the toe up, the Colorado River Socks have a flowing river represented with slip stitches and a cable pattern running up the center on both the front and back. This is framed on each side with a lace chevron stitch design that mimics the canyon’s natural landscape. The socks also feature a full gusset and a robust slip stitch heel. Visions of the glorious canyon and the river that runs through it will greet you each time you wear the Colorado River Socks!
