Friendship bracelets…you and your best friend swapped them over summer vacation. Sometimes you swapped anklets. By the end of summer they were faded and worn, but you kept them in a box and sometimes you pull them out. All the memories come rushing back when you touch them. It all could have been yesterday.

This little bracelet is perfect for scraps of yarn you have left over, plus a super special button or bead. Mine all have trade beads on them, and I love the clear colors and odd shapes. Knit one; knit tons of them. Give them to all your friends and wear several yourself!

Welcome to year three of my subscription series! The idea for

Includes modifications for a 3 color Carson!

Welcome to year three of my subscription series! The idea for my first ebook subscription (year one: the pleiades) was born in 2010 while reading posts on Ravelry: people knitting 10 shawls in 2010. I decided to design and knit 10 shawls that year, and at the time I released my first subscription, I had 7 left to do. I made my goal that year, so the next year I was back for more. Today though, I have realized that I simply love doing these subscriptions so much, I won’t even pretend that there’s any other reason to do them! The number 7 is one of my favorites, and I like including the extra accessories. So here comes year three!

I am...

This lovely generously sized shawl can be knit either as a triangle or as a rectangle. The charts and written instructions are designed to present one panel of lace, with the option to knit a triangle by repeating each panel twice, or a square by repeating each panel 4 times. Because the start is a little tricky, the first two charts (A and B) are shown for the triangle and then for the square. After those charts have established your version of the shawl, the remaining charts (C-F) are given for both, with instructions on using the written instructions or charts to make a triangle or...

Welcome to year two! The idea for my first ebook subscription (year one: the pleiades) was born in 2010 while reading posts on Ravelry: people knitting 10 shawls in 2010. This year, they are doing 11 in 2011, so I really must join in the fun!

I am still addicted to small shawls using sock yarn and my sock yarn stash is still growing. And growing. It seems to be be bigger every day! So I’m jumping in again!

This time, because of life happening, the deadline of designing and knitting all of the 7 shawls for this subscription in 2011 is, I’m afraid, not possible. (Though I still designed and knit 12 shawls in 2011!!) But the patterns for this eBook subscription will be delivered to subscribers within the subscription period of a year: ending June 30, 2012. As this is a...

This is the fourth pattern for year 5 of my 7 Small Shawls eBook series.

Headlands approaches asymmetry in a round-about way. Though the shape is completely symmetrical, the top stitch pattern creates asymmetry due to its slant. The edge is a knit on lace edging, and I love all the color combinations possible!

Note that different knitting styles seem to affect garter stitch more than other stitches; beware that you may need to purchase extra yardage or go down in needle size if you are a loose knitter. When choosing to substitute yarns, be sure to purchase extra yardage, as the different spin and fiber content of the yarn may affect the amount of yardage used.

This pattern includes full written instructions and full charts.

A beautiful and simple pattern, this shawl begins at the nape of the neck with a garter tab, and is knit down and out to the lovely arched and beaded edging. The elegant simplicity of the finished shawl is perfect for jeans or a little black dress.

The droghte of Marche hath perced to the rote,
And bathed every veyne in swich licour,
Of which vertu engendred is the flour;

Inspired hath in every holt and heeth
The tendre croppes, and the yonge sonne
Hath in the Ram his falfe cours y-ronne,

In high school and then again in grad school, my favorite place was a tiny little narrow bistro called Cafe Trieste, with a deck in the back overlooking the creek. The people watching was fabulous, and a warm but simple wrap to throw dramatically over one’s shoulder would have been just the thing.

In designing Trieste, I strove for simple elegance, both in the knitting and the wearing. The shawl begins with one stitch at the bottom of the triangle, and increases one stitch at the beginning of each row. By the end of the second repeat, I had memorized the stitch pattern. I took the shawls with me to swim practices, where they served as both a lap blanket and employment for fidgety hands!

The two versions, one in garter stitch and one in beaded stockinette...

I think the year end mashup of my club patterns is my very favorite to design and knit! This year’s pattern is no exception to that rule.

For the main body of the stole or poncho, I used a variation that combines the diamond motif used in High Desert and Meeks Bay and combined it with the chevron pattern also used in those shawls. The ends begin with the twig panel from High Desert, then onward to echo the mesh pattern from RedBrush. The leaves in the border hail from Night Blossoms. At the very ends–between the leaf points–you will find a motif from Meeks Bay used as a last ornament before binding off.

This pattern includes both fully charted and fully written instructions....
