All three sweaters are knit from the TOP DOWN. You have several choices: 1. Make a “mostly knit only” sweater; 2. For a different look, add a ribbed collar and cuffs to your “knit” body; 3. Or continue the ribbing from the collar down the front and back for a “centre flat rib panel” for extra fun.

We can’t figure out how to make a tank any easier to knit! Knit from the Bottom-Up, in the round, with self-finishing edges. There is no back or front because this tank has a square neckline on one side and a scoop neckline on the other side. You choose which way you want to wear it. Is that cool or what?!

A quick little Top Down snug shrug to cover up bare shoulders on a cool evening or in air conditioning! You have two choices of materials to make this shrug. You can use 2 strands of fingering weight yarn held together throughout to give you a tweedy affect (or use 2 strands of the same colour for a non-tweedy effect) and a thicker yarn which makes this a quick project (black and blue shrug).
We used one strand of semi-solid/hand-painted (blue) and one strand of a solid (black with a fleck of silver). This gives you a chance to use some of the gorgeous coloured fingering available in a garment for yourself.
You can also use a single...

This pattern was first published in our book ”Teens & Tweens” for ages 8 to 18 years. Due to the number of requests for it in adult sizes, it’s now been re-written in finished chest sizes from 37, 40, 43, 45½, 48½ and 50”.

Knit from the TOP DOWN, you can work the sleeves from short little cap sleeves, to mid-length or long. Three length options are offered as well.

This is likely to turn into your “go-to” cardigan!

Note! We’ve just added ”A-Line PLUS Cardigan #625” with PLUS sizes to 5X.

“Simply put, we’re nuts about knitting, but not about the dreaded sewing-up that has traditionally come after the knitting is done… The majority of our designs are knit in one piece.”* A Top-down sweater knit in the round, with a braided cable in the front. Four sizes: 1 year, 2 year, 4 year, 6 year. Cable instructions are both charted and written out. The authors recommend a smooth, tightly twisted yarn to show off the cable.

You can use odds and ends of chunky wool from your yarn basket to make this warm, colorful hat OR use Kool-Aid to dye natural-colored wool to give this basic toque a bright and funky look. The I-cord tails that decorate the top hat are approximately 2 inches long, but you can knit them as long (or as short) as you like. You could even make them very long and sew bells on the ends or tie them into knots. DK or sport weight yarn may be used holding two strands together throughout (double the yardage).

Worked in garter stitch. Begin with the collar. Knit down the Back panel and then the two Front panels. Pick up along the sides of the Front and Back panels and work the side of the Body sideways for a perfect fit. The sleeves are worked down to the wrist in garter stitch and seamed (you could work them in the round if you wish).

A lovely jacket to knit and wear.

A Top Down cardigan with raglan sleeves and a V-neck. Cuffs and Collar war worked in a flat ribbed pattern. Bust shaping darts are worked for two obvious reasons. This makes the fronts 2-3”/3-8cm wider than the back which also means your buttonband won’t gap when buttoned. Waist and Hip shaping instructions are included so that you can make a cardigan that fits your figure.

The Sarum Tunic is knit bottom up in one piece with a lacey cast-on hem and unusual shoulder shaping. This shoulder shaping was “un-vented” by Elizabeth Zimmermann which she called “nalgar” (“raglan” backwards, just like the shaping). This is a very cool way to knit a sweater as the shoulder shaping also creates the arms of the sweater. No picking up for the sleeves! Neat.
