To function properly, a bag must have room at the bottom to expand when filled with things. Flat envelopes will not do. My easy solution is to begin with a strip for the bottom, then pick up sts around and work upwards. The length of the strip, as well as the overall height of the body of the bag determines the size.

Sizes:
Cell Phone/Eyeglass Holder - about 4½” wide x 7½” high

Purse - about 9” wide x 7” high

Small eyelet circles are surrounded by wings of swirling stockinette stitch to create a host of angels on this triangular shawl. This shawl is a wonderful reminder of all the angels in our lives -- winged or otherwise -- and makes a comforting gift. Size can be adjusted easily by adding or subtracting pattern repeats.

Shawl can be also knit in lace, sport/dk or worsted weight yarns, but yarn requirement, needle size and dimensions will change.

Faina’s memories of time spent on the shores of the Baltic Sea inspired the name of this lovely lace stole. She cleverly worked increases and decreases into the pattern that allow the seed stitch borders to remain straight while they frame the waves of lace that flow back and forth. (Fiber Trends)

This piece can easily be made wider or narrower by adding or subtracting pattern repeats (15 stitches each) or by changing the yarn weight and needle size. Size changes will effect the yardage requirements.

Yardage:
Approximately 900 yards of sport weight mohair or wool yarn.

Hands-down, one of the easiest lace shawls you will ever knit. Run out of yarn and want a lace “kerchief” instead? Stop short at any time for your desired size. Want a bigger shawl? Get more yarn and knit longer. This shawl has the added advantage of growing in width faster than a standard triangle shawl.

Sizes and Yarn Requirements:
Use any yarn, any weight. You are not limited to only very fine laceweight yarns, even chunky mohair would work well with this pattern. Adjust needle size accordingly to match your yarn choice.

Originally published in Interweave Knits, this pattern, with several more size variations, is now available from Fiber Trends

“This delicately patterned triangular shawl looks more complicated than it is. The shawl is knitted from the neck down in a double strand of lace-weight alpaca at a gauge of four stitches to the inch. The yarn overs that form the flower-basket lace pattern are worked on right-side rows only; every wrong-side row is purled. The pointed edging flows nearly from the last row of the ten-row pattern repeat, which makes it easy to adjust the size of the shawl. For a smaller version, skip the last repeat and begin the border; for a larger version, work several more baskets before beginning the edging. The final row of the border is worked without decreases for a crisp...
