Perhaps the most fun is selecting four buttons for the sweater. Skacel’s new sheep buttons are now available in white and natural.

Lacery includes instructions for 3 sizes and begins with a classic wedge toe worked from the toe up. When I have a richly hued variegated yarn I like to pair it with a lace pattern. The vibrant stockinette serves as the perfect palette for the delicate lace openings. Lacery’s heel features a slip stitch heel flap combining two favorites – toe up construction and the classic heel. To complement the lace design, the back of the leg is worked in a lacy rib. Lacery is finished off with a bind off I call the “Stretchy Picot Bind Off”. This technique will give a ruffled look to the cuff of your sock.

This simple to knit hat is perfect for snow boarders, hunters, and sled riders. It features front and back flaps with a snug ribbed neck to keep you warm without the bulk of a scarf.

My grandmother knit this warm hat in the 1940’s for my dad to wear sledding in the cold Ohio winters. Dad has long outgrown the hood, but Grandma still wears it to shovel snow at the age of 94! Having lost the instructions years ago, she asked me to recreate the pattern and I was able to write a new pattern allowing for 3 different size options. Simply adjust the yarn weight and needle size and you can knit one to fit every member of your family.

The honeycomb cable pattern has never been as much fun as in these stylish hats. Try the Slouchy version for a trendy look or the Watch Cap version for a classic nod. Both versions are toasty warm and deceivingly simple!
