Spice Market Socks PDF

Designed by Amy Loberg (FiberWild!)

The fourth pattern in our Sock of the Month “World Traveler Series”!

Bonus: Buy any Schoppel Wolle’s Zauberball yarn at our online store and get this pattern for FREE!

The “Spice Market” Socks pay homage to the vibrant colors seen in traditional marketplaces across India, the Middle East, and North Africa. The inspiration for these socks comes from the gorgeous bins and baskets of the colorful spices seen here, and entrelac seemed like the perfect fit to mimic their shape and structure. Worked from the toe up, the top of the foot and leg are worked in entrelac while the foot remains in stockinette stitch. (By dumb luck, I managed to get very close matching socks which never happens with self-striping sock yarn in my world!)

Finished Size: Small (Medium, Large)

Gauge: 30sts/4”in Stockinette Stitch on US 1.5 (2.5 mm)

Needles: (2) 24” circular needles.

Size: Small
Width: Narrow - 2.00mm
Width: Medium - 2.25mm
Width: Wide - 2.50mm

Size: Medium or Large
Width: Narrow - 2.25mm
Width: Medium - 2.50mm
Width: Wide - 2.75mm

Materials: Shown in Schoppel Wolle’s Zauberball (75% Superwash Wool / 25% Nylon: 459 yds/100g)

Yardage: 375 (400, 430) (1 skein)

Notions: 1 double point needle for transferring stitches, crochet hook US B for casting on

Skill Level: Intermediate

Notes on Sizing: Due to the stretchy nature of the entrelac blocks, these socks can stretch lengthwise or around, jut not both at the same time. The size medium fit women’s shoe sizes from about 7 to 9 with an average width.
