Hat Kit ... 25% Off!
by Amy Loberg
The hat starts with an inner lining knit in stockinette stitch on smaller needles. Next comes the stranded colorwork. This colorwork pattern is a breeze to knit though, since only two colors are used at once. You may find yourself saying, "just one more row!" ... it's so fun to see the pattern emerge after each round. When the top of the hat is done, fold the inner lining to the inside and sew it to the outer layer of the hat just below the start of the crown shaping. The Moroccan Star Hat is perfect for staying cozy while looking stylish this winter!

Celebrate Canada's Native History with the "Inukshuk" Socks ...
Featuring Malabrigo Sock yarn!
The "Inukshuk" Socks were inspired by the human-made stone landmarks constructed of piled rocks known as Inuksuit (the plural of Inukshuk). They're found from Alaska to Greenland above the Arctic Circle. Going back thousands of years, Inuksuit have served an important role in the culture of the Inuit and other peoples of the Arctic region.
Inuksuit come in many shapes including one that suggests a human figure ... hence the meaning of the Inuit word Inukshuk: "... to act in the capacity of a human". In an area with few natural landmarks, their purpose was for communication. A few of the uses of these markers included navigational and hunting aids, coordination points and campsite locations.
Today the Inukshuk has become popular as a cultural symbol, not only of native peoples, but more generally representing Canada. The Inukshuk was even used in the design for the 2010 Olympic Games held in Vancouver, B.C.
Knit in the lovely Malabrigo Sock yarn, you'll have a story to tell each time you wear our Inukshuk Socks!

Amy's taken the shape of the Inukshuk and translated it into a simple, but effective stockinette and reverse stockinette stitch pattern. The overall patterning makes for fun to knit (and wear) socks. These top-down socks start with classic rib and include a sturdy eye of partridge heel. The Inukshuk patterning goes around the leg and continues on the top of the foot. Put it all together and you'll have a cool pair of socks that are sure to turn some heads!
