Knit, Swirl – Coat of Many Colors in Mountain Colors Yarns

Coat of Many Colors Kit in Twizzle or Mountain Goat yarns ...
and all "Knit, Swirl"  PDFs ... all 20% Off!

Published back in 2011, Sandra McIver's award-winning book “Knit, Swirl!” has become a knitting classic. The hardcover book is out of print,  but the good news is its now available as a PDF! ... and if all you need is the popular Coat of Many Colors pattern, it's available as individual PDF!

Not familiar with this wonderful book? “Knit, Swirl!” is a remarkable set of eighteen designs for these unique swirl jackets. The basic concept is a series of concentric rings that create the collar, lapels, and front and lower back with one seam that runs from cuff to cuff to create the arms, front bodice, and back neck. All eighteen elegant sweater jackets are written in three sizes and are designed to be flattering to all figures.

The cover of the book shows the Coat of Many Colors ... perhaps the most knit design in the book. We have kits for this design in both Mountain Goat and Twizzle yarns from Mountain Colors!

Sock of the Month: “Stranded in Mykonos” Socks

You will love being "Stranded in Mykonos" ...
Featuring HiKoo's CoBaSi yarn ... 20% Off!

These colorful socks were inspired by the the island of Mykonos, part of the Cyclades Islands of Greece ... famous for its striking white buildings with colorful doors, dome roofed buildings and maze-like streets lined with vivid pink Bougainvillea flowers.  The brilliant blue ocean is dotted the bright sail boats ... and Amy was able to capture it all in the gorgeous Stranded in Mykonos Socks!

Surrounded by the turquoise Aegean Sea, the island is steeped in history. Traditional Cycladic architecture abounds and six museums exhibit pieces from the Hellenistic and prehistoric eras. Mykonos has more recently gained a reputation as a posh party island ... but no worries, there are estimated to be up to 800 chapels on the island to maintain a good balance. If ever you were to get stranded on an island, this would be the perfect one!

Bonus: Get the pattern FREE with purchase of HiKoo's CoBaSi Yarn!

Thank you to Kim M. for the inspiration she gave us from her trip to Greece last winter!

Knit from the top down, these socks start with a two-color ribbed cuff. Larger needles are used on the cuff and leg of the sock to maintain the correct gauge while knitting the stranded colorwork. A series of motifs depicting famous sights of Mykonos make up the leg. The first motif uses three colors, but after that only two colors are used at a time for fun colorwork knitting. These socks also feature a full gusset and eye of partridge heel. When you're done, you'll love wearing these bright and beautiful socks that evoke the vivid sights of the island of Mykonos!
