Traditional meets Modern ... knit the Magic City Henley ...
Featuring Elemental Affects Shetland Fingering

Shetland Fingering
Designer Mercedes Tarasovich-Clark explores traditional fabrics and styling in this modern henley-neck pullover inspired by Birmingham, Alabama where she makes her home. This "Magic City Henley" is worked in 100% American Shetland Fingering from Elemental Affects.

Magic City Henley
"In thinking about what motifs represent Birmingham, Alabama, I was drawn to its history as a rail and steel town. It's also home to amazing green spaces; the city is filled with and surrounded by nature, including a particular type of wetland flower, the Cahaba Lily. I’ve combined stylized motifs of the lily, railroad tracks, and smokestacks to represent the Magic City." ~ Mercedes Tarasovich-Clark
The Magic City Henley is a bottom-up, circular pullover worked with steeks.

Elemental Affects Shetland Fingering
Woolen-spun for airy warmth, 2-ply Shetland is the standard for several traditions of knitting including Fair Isle. Elemental Affects brings us this American sourced and dyed in a broad palette ideal for layers of colorwork.
Fiber Content 100% U.S. Grown & U. S. Dyed Shetland Fingering
Yardage / Weight 118 yds in 1 oz [28 g]
Care Instructions Hand Wash Warm, Dry Flat
With wear, the construction of this yarn and the nature of Shetland wool work to basically "felt" Shetland Fingering without shrinking it. The stitches simply blur, and the tiny kinks along the strand of the wool begin to merge into an almost solid piece of fabric that's softer than the original yarn.
The Magic City Henley pattern is available exclusively in Interweave Knits Summer 2015 Issue.
Mercedes Tarasovich-Clark is the author of Brioche Chic: 22 Fresh Knits for Women & Men. Her designs have appeared in Interweave Knits, Knitscene, Knitty, and elsewhere, and she is herself a delightful and quirky fiber artist living and working in Birmingham, Alabama. Mercedes is an accomplished hand-dyer as well as a thoughtful designer.
