Directions from Chicagoland ...
FiberWild! is about a 2½ to 3 hour, (145-160 mile) drive west of the Chicago metro area. Depending on where in Chicagoland you start, there are two ways get out of the city and escape to Galena... either from downtown/O'Hare/northern suburbs or from the west/south suburbs ...

Note: Drive times are approximate and represent a typical speed-limit-ish pace, not an Indy-500 velocity… most small towns generate a huge income from speeding tickets…relax, take a restful drive in the country.

You made it to Galena, so where is FiberWild?

So, you made it to Galena and turned north onto Main Street. FiberWild! is located on the east side of Main Street about two blocks in from the floodgates. On busy Saturday afternoons, you may have trouble finding a place to park ...

Okay, so where should I park? ...

  • Galena was designed for horses and buggies. In 1848, the city's founding fathers had no idea that large SUVs and mini-vans would be cruising around. Here's the bottom line: if town is very busy, don't try to park on Main Street.

  • When you pass the floodgates, TAKE THE FIRST RIGHT onto Water Street. Water Street follows the Galena River along the levee. Proceed about one block on Water Street and look for the old post office on the left. The post office is a large white 1800's looking building, eight chimneys, and mail trucks parked around the back. Park the car along the levee ... bonus, there is no 3 hour time limit when you parking along the levee!

  • You are now only a short walk to the rear entrance to FiberWild! on Commerce street ... look for the FiberWild! sign.
Beware, Galena imposes a three hour parking limit. The tickets are only $15.00 ... but why waste the money? Mind the clock. Also: DON'T PARK WHERE THE CURB IS PAINTED RED. These areas are for loading zones, cross walks, fire hydrants, etc. I don't know how much these tickets will cost you ... you decide.

If you have questions regarding these directions, the store or Galena, don't hesitate to Contact Us or call the store. For more information on Galena, you can also visit the local Convention and Visitors Bureau website.

... See you at the store ... Amy!
