Web Programmer - Part Time is looking for an experienced, driven individual to join our web development team. We are an established retailer in the craft industry with a proven ecommerce presence looking to expand capabilities by leveraging social media technology and marketing. If you enjoy a fast-paced environment where you will research, design and implement enhancements to, we have work for you! Qualified candidates must have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, good communication skills, along with proficiency in web development methods, tools, programming languages and testing.

Scout's learning to Program Too! Position Responsibilities
  • Serve as a developer for and other associated websites.
  • Enhance integration with various social networking websites.
  • Assist with marketing campaigns by creating compelling landing pages to drive sales.
  • Develop Email marketing campaign templates and designs.
  • Work with sales and marketing to optimize overall website design and user experience.
  • Excellent understanding of IT/Web infrastructure, communications, development, and user experiences.
  • Hands-on programming experience with HTML, PHP, JavaScript, CSS, MySQL databases.
  • Development experience with APIs, especially JSON.
  • Experience creating and working with templates for dynamic database driven websites.
Bonus Skills
  • Experience with open source e-commerce platforms, especially Zen-Cart, OsCommerce or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Dreamweaver authoring, protocols, development, and publishing.
  • Interest in retail e-commerce, especially in fiber arts, knitting and crochet a plus.
Personal Attributes
  • Highly self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and writing English skills, including the ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
  • Great interpersonal and team-oriented collaboration skills.
  • Eagerly willing to tackle unfamiliar problems and research "best practice" solutions.
  • Enjoy learning about new technologies and constantly learning new skills.
You must be a third or fourth year undergraduate or a graduate student working towards a degree in Computer Science.
