Stockton Socks Felted Ewe Kit

Tired of Lacy and "Foofy" Socks?
... Try these Traditional Socks made from Locally Produced Yarn!

Design by Amy Loberg

Made of yarn "raised" by Suzy the Shepherdess just outside of Galena, the Stockton Socks are perfect for winter outdoor activities! This traditional pattern can be knit in either the ladies version, or the men’s sizes!

About 3 years ago, Suzy walks into the store, sporting her finest Shepherdess garb, and promptly asks if we would like to sell her locally produced yarn in our store. We felt the fine quality of the wool, and suggested that she put them up in 50 gram skeins with pictures of her sheep on the labels! They have been a hit here in the store ever since.

Galena has a rich history from the 1800's, and is the site of many historical reenactments ... complete with a cast of accurately dressed living history interpreters. This was the inspiration for Suzy's Stockton Sock Kit, made with a traditional pattern and Suzy's soft yarns. Check out Suzy the Shepherdess' website for more info on her sheep, 19th century farming methods and yarn processing.

The Stockton Sock Kit contains the pattern for the socks, along with either 2 or 2 1/2 skeins of quality 100% wool yarn,
depending on whether you order the women's or men's kit (remember to select either the Women's or Men's kit when ordering!). Here are all of Suzy's Yarns on our website.

The socks are knit top-down ... the women's finished socks measure about 7" to 8" in circumference. The men's finished socks measure about 9" to 10" in circumference.

You will need a set of size US 5 double point needles ... these are NOT included in the kit.

Even though the skill level for this pattern is intermediate, this sock is perfect for the beginning sock knitter ... you will need to be familiar with how to use double point needles, and comforatable with increasing, decreasing and picking up stitches.

   Skill Level:

You will want to hand wash these socks, and dry'em on a flat surface.

The Stockton Sock Kit is shown in a natural Grey, but is also available
in a natural Cream color.
