Cheers is a modular shawl I designed for a weekend workshop at The Yarn Club in Virginia Beach, now that the workshop is complete I can share it with you all!

Cheer’s begins with a shallow obtuse triangle that is worked from one end to the other. The top long edge of the triangle has an integrated i-cord edging, and the bottom edge is worked with a slipped stitch as the first stitch of every row.

Once the triangle is complete, stitches are picked up along this slipped stitch edge. Then a transitional 2 color border is worked with optional beads. The main color is then cut and an architectural lace border is worked in one color with optional beads. Finally the bottom edge is bound off and your...

Bryce Canyon is probably my favorite of the national parks. Growing up my family would go on annual camping trips all over the place and Bryce was always one of my favorite stops. A shawl inspired by this beautiful place had to be first on my list. :)

This shawl is worked in one piece and features a cable and lace pattern that is worked in a center panel bordered by stockinette side panels. The whole shawl is finished off in a cable/lace border.

This is the first shawl in my new four-shawl collection that will be released one at a time between November 2012 and January 2013. There will be four shawls inspired by U.S. National Parks that I visited growing...

Welcome to year three of my subscription series! The idea for my first ebook subscription (year one: the pleiades) was born in 2010 while reading posts on Ravelry: people knitting 10 shawls in 2010. I decided to design and knit 10 shawls that year, and at the time I released my first subscription, I had 7 left to do. I made my goal that year, so the next year I was back for more. Today though, I have realized that I simply love doing these subscriptions so much, I won’t even pretend that there’s any other reason to do them! The number 7 is one of my favorites, and I like including the extra accessories. So here comes year three!

I am...

Large: 70” tip to tip, 14” deep (measurements for large version are with five repeats of the even section)

Laura Nelkin is well known for her beautiful designs, and we were thrilled when she agreed to design for our Dream Club! She’s created a mobius cowl that is a stunning match to our October yarn. Her “Cruzado Criss Cross” stitches allow long, beautiful stretches of the yarn to show off, showcasing the varied colors. Incorporating several interesting techniques, the Cruzado Cowl is a knit that will keep you interested from cast on to bind off. This pattern is fully written with no charts.

The October Dream Club yarn is no longer available…

Welcome to year two! The idea for my first ebook subscription (year one: the pleiades) was born in 2010 while reading posts on Ravelry: people knitting 10 shawls in 2010. This year, they are doing 11 in 2011, so I really must join in the fun!

I am still addicted to small shawls using sock yarn and my sock yarn stash is still growing. And growing. It seems to be be bigger every day! So I’m jumping in again!

This time, because of life happening, the deadline of designing and knitting all of the 7 shawls for this subscription in 2011 is, I’m afraid, not possible. (Though I still designed and knit 12 shawls in 2011!!) But the patterns for this eBook subscription will be delivered to subscribers within the subscription period of a year: ending June 30, 2012. As this is a...

Now, if there’s one thing all those comics and cartoons have taught us about mutating, it’s that it’s really anybody’s guess what you’re going to get. Super awesome psychic powers? Very possibly. Extra limbs and general blobbiness? Also pretty likely. Luckily for this hat, its mutations are pretty benign and mostly take the form of an unusual crown structure.

This pattern is in the book Doomsday Knits, which is currently available at cooperativepress.com, as well as here on Ravelry.

While Watson and Crick won the Nobel Prize for their discovery of DNA structure, their work built upon earlier work by a female scientist by the name of Rosalind Franklin. A woman who sadly died young, before the Nobel Prize was awarded. This shawl is a tribute to her, an asymmetrical shawl featuring a “DNA” cable. This design is first worked “sideways” and then the piece is rotated such that the last section is worked “vertically” and connected to the sideways portion as you go. Because of the nature of this shawl, it can be adjusted for pretty much any yardage, and instructions for upsizing are included. The one-skein version turned out to be 48” wide and...

this project is easy enough for adventurous beginners but interesting enough for more advanced knitters. no matter what your skill level, you just might learn a little something along the way.

the construction of this hat was inspired by holly priestley’s ‘nomadic nights slouch’. when i knit her hat, i fell for the brim knit flat and how that looked which started the ball rolling for this design.

if you use the dream in color ‘canyon’ and are careful to get gauge, you will have enough yarn to make two hats (with the colors reversed- see 5th photo).

also matching mittens and gloves are in the works. look for their release in the fall of 2015…

(this hat was originally a mystery...
