DESCRIPTION

This spring I wanted a versatile, stylish and flattering cardigan that was simple enough to be worn with just about everything. This cardigan keeps the basic styling simple, its short style is worn with negative ease, but small lace and cable details at the hem, cuff and neckline keep it interesting.

As the waist band sits just below the natural waist the wide ribbing pulls in snugly without needing to decrease the stitches. The bustline is designed to fit with a little negative ease which creates a form fitting garment without any side shaping.

Worked from the bottom up body and sleeves are joined at the yoke and worked together in one piece. There is minimal finishing when you are done, just bands and a small underarm graft.

A new look for a beloved tradition…

FISHER LASSIE is a cardigan version of the gansey sweaters often worn by the 19th century fishermen of British coastline communities. It features the distinctive stitch patterning of that era but incorporates modern styling, fit and elegant construction techniques.

This garment is constructed from the top down, starting with the Right Front, followed by the Left Front. Then the Back section is picked up across their shoulder lines. All pieces are worked to the underarm, where they are joined and worked as one to hem. Pattern includes charts for individual sizes for stitch patterns and v-neck shaping.

Fisher Lassie has top-down sleeves and a neat, shaped shawl collar making for a cozy cardigan to wear on all your outdoor adventures, on land or sea.

Vindur means wind in Icelandic, which reflects the asymmetrical hemline and the weather in Iceland perfectly!

Vindur was inspired by a trifecta of experiences!

  • First off a trip to Iceland meant I needed a new warm sweater.
  • Then at a boring business conference at Cornell I saw the most amazing Norma Kamali sweater from the 1980s…
  • Finally I wanted to play with the construction of the Novus sweaters, but in a pullover format!

Vindur is a seamless asymmetrical sweater constructed in a simple but unusual way. First the right arm is worked from the cuff to the underarm and a short row sleeve cap is worked. Then stitches are provisionally cast on for the front and back. Then the shoulder is worked and the stitches are split for neckline shaping. The front and back are worked at the same time and rejoined to work the left shoulder. Then the front and back stitches are put on holders, and a short row sleeve cap is worked. Next, the left sleeve is worked to the wrist. Finally, the sweater is folded in half, and these two halves are joined together by a garter stitch side seam that is worked perpendicularly to them. These start at the hem and end at the cuff of the sleeve joining the front and the back of...
